I've grown up with dogs & had my own dogs for most of my life starting with my first dog a labrador which was my 21st birthday present. Thus, I have a life time of experience with dogs & where some have been rescues. As well as dogs I've had a variety of other amazing & beautiful pets.
So not just passionate about dogs, but all animals.
I say amazing pets because I had a cat who was able to get the hamster out of its cage & where she would carry it around in her mouth as if it was her own kitten, never harming it. I've had dogs that would play with the pet rabbits & where one was a Rottweiler which would come off the worst in a play fight. I've rescued dogs & cats where in the early days there were problems, but with dedication, patience & perseverance I've always managed to resolve the issues. One dog I was considering taking on had killed a pet in it's previous home, so I sought advice from dog trainers. Their advice was not to take the dog on saying it would probably 'kill my cats'. But trusting my gut & instinct I took the dog on, & for the following months worked on getting the dog to accept my cats & visa, versa. Eventually they did learn to tolerate & accept one another, & all went on to live happily together. I do believe in most cases that if your good to your pets & give them the best life that you can, any initial problems that come with introducing a new pet into the house can be resolved in time with patience & dedication.
I have worked in boarding kennels where my main role was working in quarantine caring for dogs & cats, & where on occasion I would collect them from the airports. I also cared for strays brought in by the local dog warden & dogs that had been confiscated from their owners for whatever reasons, which entailed collecting them from the police station kennels around Yorkshire & bringing them into boarding whilst owners awaited court hearings. The kennels also offered a clipping & grooming service where I would help out when short staffed. I do have a certificate for grooming & the relevant equipment to clip & groom dogs, however I do not offer this service within my role as a dog boarder.
It is through looking after family's & friend's dogs over the years I decided to do this as a profession & applied for my licence to offer home boarding & day care.
